Emma Clippinger received a heartwarming visit from her father and got to spend a few nights in the posh comforts of a luxury hotel instead of the simple surroundings of a poor African village. She relayed some of her stories to her father, and as she soaked in his shock at her experience, it mirrored her initial shock at stepping off the tiny propeller plane into the alternate universe that is Senegal.

She is amidst an identity crisis at the moment. She admits that she has changed, "in both those small tangible ways and some inexplicable ways as well, ones I myself cannot even identify." In the week that she was away from Senegal she confesses, "I almost felt as though I may as well have been in America and experienced an absurd conundrum, two equal and opposite forces pulling and pushing - a longing for my life back at home, and a longing to immerse myself even further, even deeper into this culture....."

She is currently traveling through the African bush on her spring break. Will she find what she is searching for?
