About Gunnar
Someone once characterized Gunnar as "A young man on a mission." That is quite true.
Gunnar grew up in Culdesac, Idaho. Culdesac is a small farming community of about 300 people in North Idaho. While attending Culdesac School, Gunnar was a State of Idaho 4-H Teen Association Officer, on the Know Your Government Planning Committee, and was the CHS Associated Student Body Treasurer for four years.
After high school Gunnar moved to Southern Idaho to attend Albertson College of Idaho. He was able to attend Albertson through an amazingly generous scholarship from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He stared to realize his passion in journalism by working for KIVI-TV. Starting out as a teleprompter operator, Gunnar soon moved to being a camera man, then to an audio operator, and soon moved on to doing special reporting projects, most notably being on assignment in Tijuana, Mexico.
While at Albertson College Gunnar was elected to the Student Senate, was an Admissions Advisory Board Member, became the Vice President and General Station Manager of ACI.D.
Gunnar worked in Congressman Butch Otter's office in Washington D.C. where he was able to speak with General Colin Powell, and news anchor Sam Donaldson. He attended hearings with General Tommy Franks and also Alan Greenspan. Living his dream to work in New York, Gunnar received the opportunity to work in the Executive Offices of Talent and Development for NBC in New York. He attended meetings with industry leaders such as Brian Williams and Tom Brokaw. While in New York and working for NBC, Gunnar found out what it will take to actualize his ultimate career goals. Gunnar's ultimate career goal is to be a national morning news anchor.
Recently Gunnar has set out on a mission to travel the world. When he ends his tour, he will have visited twenty-seven countries and traveled to every continent except Antarctica. While traveling, Gunnar has his mobile editing system and camera ready. He writes, shoots, and edits stories on global issues for various news agencies.
If there is one thing Gunnar knows is that he is very lucky and fortunate. His travels have created a great passion to give back to the world that has afforded him so much.
